Ring receives HomeKit certification for 2 products

Will Amazon soon be equipping its products with new technology? The necessary certification is in any case in place: In Apple’s publicly accessible database for MFi licensed accessories, two products from the Amazon subsidiary Ring have also been available for a few days. However, the functionalities are not yet integrated, a firmware update would be necessary.

We can already give you two names: The Ring Video Doorbell Pro and the Ring Spotlight Cam in the wired version have received MFi certification from Apple and are listed in the database as HomeKit accessories.

Whether and when HomeKit will be integrated into the two Ring models is not yet known. As we have learned from a reliable source, there could be something going on around Ring in June – but whether it is the launch of a new product or a HomeKit update is still completely uncertain.

It is possible that nothing will happen in the first place, so you have to reckon with that in case of doubt. The Netatmo weather station is also HomeKit certified, but the Netatmo feature has not yet been released. Officially, the reason given is that not all measured values (such as wind force or rainfall) can be transferred to HomeKit.
