Following on from its announcement in September, Ezlo Innovation, the parent company of Vera Control since last year, is continuing its development of new home automation hubs with PlugHub Energy. This time the American manufacturer is offering a Z-Wave smart home hub in the form of a smart outlet.
PlugHub Energy is the first home automation device to combine the functionalities of a smart home hub, a connected socket and an energy monitor in a single product. It thus offers consumers the possibility to start their smart home with just one device.
PlugHub Energy offers unparalleled value by turning lamps and other standard devices into intelligent products. And it does this by also allowing control of Z-Wave devices such as smart locks, thermostats, sensors, etc. It will also offer control of Wi-Fi devices through the integration of Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa, which will be available soon.
Integrating both Wi-Fi and Z-Wave technologies, it can be installed very simply like a traditional connected outlet. It supports up to 30 Z-Wave devices, which is enough for the vast majority of needs.
PlugHub Energy reinforces our efforts to make home automation more accessible to everyone,” said Mark Samuel, CEO of Ezlo Innovation. “I’ve heard countless stories of people who buy smart plugs only to realize that they need something to control them. We have solved this problem with a plug-and-play hub at a price well below what customers would pay for a separate smart hub and plug.
The hub is controlled by the Vera mobile application, available for iOS and Android devices. This allows users to view the power consumption of any device plugged into the Energy PlugHub, as well as the power consumed by other Z-Wave devices with the energy metering feature.
The Energy PlugHub is now available in the U.S. market for only $39.95, the price of a standard connected outlet. The European version is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2020.
